‘Epworth House,’ Mahube Children’s Home
The establishment of ‘Epworth House,’ a home for eight children affected by HIV/AIDS, is the most recent phase of the Mahube project.

The Need for a Children’s Home
Working with our friends in the Healing Centre and Care Centre, it became apparent that there is a need for permanent accommodation for children affected by the virus; children who are infected, abandoned or orphaned. This was confirmed by Mohau Children’s Centre based at Kalafong Hospital, Attridgeville, who are particularly keen to accommodate school going children in a more normal home environment. Their satellite home, which accomodates ten children in Kilner Park, is the role model for Epworth House.

Our Aim
The aim of Epworth House is to provide eight children with a loving, caring, Christian home so that they can reach their full potential. The house mother will be responsible for their day-to-day care, but it is also hoped that volunteers will come to visit and offer their support on a regular basis. The children will receive extra tuition if necessary, IT, and music lessons. They are the children of our future, and we want to empower them to be confident, successful adults who can make a positive contribution to our society.

‘Epworth House’
Epworth House is the old manse for Pretoria West Methodist Church. The church has allowed us to use this home for the sole purpose of setting up the children’s home. Epworth house is still under rennovation, and will be complete near the end of July.
